What was yor first period like whilst / after breastfeeding?

Hi there, I've posted this in 'Feeding' but thought I'd try my luck here too.

I'm breastfeeding my 9 month old DD. Yesterday I thought my period was starting. Had the same old period headache I used to get, back cramps and period pains. When I wiped there was blood on the tissue. Enough to make me think my period head returned and put in a tampon. Without TMI, the tampon was probably not necessary - just a little blood on. Today, nothing really, just a little blood on wiping maybe, but I still have all the aches and pains as if it was in full swing.

I am confused. What is this? Is it my period. Why is it so light if so? Should I consider myself fertile? Please help.

Is there any chance you are pregnant?

RyanNotBryan · 15/09/2010 20:17

I guess I could be. I do a pregnancy test every month or so Blush as I know I could get pregnant without my period returning. I think I did one a week or so ago that was negative. I suppose I could test again. I did wonder if I might be pregnant. I guess I was just wondering if a period this light was normal or not?

Mine started 3 days ago and it was very light at first and for the next day - just as you described. It is now pretty much the same as it used to be. DTs are 6 months old, didn't think my period would be back so soon.

Mine started back with a vengence I'm afraid. But when I was pregnant with DS I had a bleed which was like a very light period and it turned out to be an implantation bleed.

Thanks for your help. It's day 3 today peasplease but it seems to have stopped. Still got period pain though. whomovedmy chocolate I think it does sound a bit like an implantation bleed, although I did just reas on the NHS website about spotting when your period returns. Hmmmm. We'll see! Thanks guys!
