Ds2 is 9months and has been a bit off colour for a couple of days, off his food, bit of diarrohea, wingey, etc but not seriously poorly. Yesterday though I noticed blood in his nappy after he'd done a poo, and phoned NHS direct who told me to take him to the GP. This I did, and by the end of the afternoon he'd had 4 bloody nappies. The GP couldn't see a fissure or obvious source of the bleeding so we went to the hospital and after several hours and 2 more nappies with blood the senior doc agreed we could go home because ds2 was not desperately ill and I felt the best thing for him was a good sleep in his own bed. He doesn't seem particularly ill, and today has seems much better and has eaten a good breakfast and lunch. We have to go back to the hospital this afternoon for more tests and to be observed.
I'm trying hard not to worry because he's okay in himself but I'd really like to know what's causing the bleeding. Has anyone else's child had this? We will have results from stool samples next week. The doc says salmonella and some other stomach bugs can cause intestinal bleeding but ds2 doesn't seem ill enough to have one of them.
Thanks
