DS (2y) has just fallen over (my fault entirely as i was trying to retrieve a candle in a glass holder from him) has given himself a cut right by his eye.it's only about a cm long if that & isn't bleeding that much but am wondering if i should get it checked out cos its so close to his eye. he is fine & is singing away in his cot -its just me that feels awful. oh & its friday & i'm always paranoid when things happen just before the weekend.

thanks

hmm, i think if it were me i would zip him down to the nurse with it being near the eye.

I'm sure there's nothing to worry about tho. HTH.

NotQuiteCockney · 02/09/2005 12:50

I wouldn't bother if it's not actually at the eye, IYSWIM. If the edge of his eye is fine, then I wouldn't bother. Particularly as it's not bleeding, presumably he wasn't cut by anything really dirty, and he's fine.

Twiglett · 02/09/2005 12:51

if it isn't bleeding and its clean then I'd just leave it TBH

oaktree · 02/09/2005 12:54

thanks _ I think I proably will take him just to reassure myself but what a complete paranoid planK I feel -off to give myself a good talking to!

Yes would leave. But if he has had a bump to the head, would watch out for signs of being more drowsy than usual etc. Know what you mean about Fridays

wysiwyg · 02/09/2005 12:56

erm... meant "would leave it..."ie not go to the docs.

cat82 · 02/09/2005 13:05

hehe oaktree- it looks like there are only two us paranoid planks Let us know how it goes.

Twiglett · 02/09/2005 13:14

let me hazard a guess .. DS is first and only child

take him, I would probably have done so if it had been DS .. but with DD I think her head would have to be half-hanging off before I wasted another hour of my life in a GP's surgery

oaktree · 02/09/2005 14:00

TWiggelt you are absolutely right!!!!!!
teh more sensible part of me (which is quite small) KNOWS that I'm a stupid overprotective hypersensitve 1st time Mum. If this was coming from any of my friends I'd say the same to you as you are to me. BUT teh overemotional paranoid part of me (from teh neck down) just needs someone to properly look at it & then tell me I@m daft as a brush.
does that make sense?
DS is asleep & I'm sure teh cut is shrinking before my very eyes.......
thanks for taking teh time to reply xxx

I agree with Twiglett - if it's clean, not bleeding, and if he's happy, then I'd leave it. If he weren't happy and singing then it would be different, but as you say he's fine, I wouldn't bother.

what did nurse say oaktree?
