Bleeding from nipple? Don't want to google :(

Am trying desperately not to look it up as I know no good ever comes of that.

My mother (mid 60s) has has some bleeding from her left nipple. I don't know how much, I don't think it's pouring or anything, maybe medium spotting? She saw the gp today who felt for lumps etc and could find nothing but they've referred her to the hospital for further tests.

Obviously I know no one can give me a diagnosis but a few 'my friend had this and it was piles' or something type responses would be good...

Or any hope really that it isn't something terrible. I really really am sitting on my hands to stop me googling as that's my first call for anything.

TIA

sorry no more info. It could be something simple like an infection but of course it could be more serious.

I have to disagree with not googling- knowledge is power.

Whatever it is, I hope she is okay and you can be supportive .

I agree with peony that best to be armed with knowledge whatever lies ahead

Well, my dad was at the gp this evening for himself and he asked about it. Said the response wasn't very positive at all. I don't know how people cope with this, I feel like I can't breathe

Thanks, I've nothing to loose by googling now i guess.

Rockbird,
I am currently having treatment for breast cancer. Most people who've been through it advise against googling too much as you can just scare yourself horribly. The best site is Breast Cancer Care - I suggest you stay away from others until you have a firm diagnosis. Lots of support on BCC available.

sandripples, thanks I really appreciate that. Many best wishes to you.
