Can anyone tell me about re-scheduled ops?

Member of staff in for a hernia op and sent home again due to having a cough. Have had to get shifts covered but now don't know when the op will be which makes rota very difficult. That's fine, but is there a typical wait period for reschedule of an operation after being turned away due to a cough?

A bit of an idea would help provisional planning for staff cover, i.e. if we knew that hospital wouldn't reschedule for at least a week to allow the cough to get better or if it was more like 2 weeks and then dependant upon operation schedule/waiting list.

I know we can't be precise but any idea at all anyone?

Yes, it is likely to be at least 2 weeks, usually a lot longer unless he has already been cancelled before. They may phone up if they have last minute cancellations but this is unlikely. Smile
