I have some lumps, scared and feeling nervous before seeing the doctor tomorrow

Since having DS2 a year ago the lower half of my tummy (from the pubic bone to naval) has lots of bumps/lumps/lumpy tissue.

Common sense tells me that it has something to do with my pregnancy (stretching etc), but the scared half of me is terrified it's something more sinister.

Just needed to get it off my chest as DH says I am being silly - I get extra scared in these situations because my MIL died so young from breast cancer.

Am seeing the gp tomorrow and am feeling so nervous.

I can imagine you must be very worried. I hope your GP can put your mind at rest. Good luck for tomorrow and try and get a good nights sleep tonight.

dejags · 31/08/2005 19:17

thanks Kayleigh.

Thinking of you Dejags. Although i do agree the sensible thing is to say it would be down to pregnancy but i would be worrying too.

Let us know how you get on x

Kayleigh · 31/08/2005 19:20

And tell your dh you are not being silly. Silly would be doing nothing about it.

Flossam · 31/08/2005 19:24

Aww, Dejags. No need to feel so scared anymore because you are addressing the issue and any problems that (most likely aren't) are there. Try not to get too worked up about it, do you feel well otherwise? None of the usual 'sinister' symptoms doctors usually ask about? Sounds to me you have a totally sensible reason for those bumps, but will be putting your mind at rest at the same time.
Hugs to you.
xx

I feel absolutely fine otherwise. Had a clear pap smear earlier in the year and the all clear in a full medical late last year. Blood pressure is perfect (slightly low) but cholesterol is on the high side.

No headaches, loss of appetite, normal periods etc etc.

I get so worked up at the thought that something might take me from my boys - morbid I know but we lost my MIL at 47 to cancer and DH lost his father to cancer at age 27 so it weighs heavily on me.

Thanks for your replies, they always help

Good Luck for tomorrow, hope everything goes okay

marthamoo · 31/08/2005 19:40

Best of luck tomorrow, dejags. It sounds like post-baby stuff to me too but it's much more sensible to get it checked out than go on worrying about it. Dh probably dismisses it as silly because cancer is something that scares him too and he doesn't want to think about it.

jamboure · 31/08/2005 20:27

good luck dejags hope all is well

dejags · 31/08/2005 21:04

thanks all , will keep you posted

just saw this dejags and want to wish you luck for tomorrow (sure it will be fine) (tbh it sounds similar to the way my stomach is - almost like grooves and lumpy bits i think mine is to do with the stretching after having my second (ds was 10 lbs) your second was a big baby too wasn't he?

nikkie · 31/08/2005 21:30

Better to get checked than leave it though, I had melanoma and I get everything checked and the dr is always ok about it.
Good luck hope everything is ok

Flossam · 01/09/2005 08:07

Hope your mind is put at rest today DJ. x

jayzmummy · 01/09/2005 08:14

Good Luck Dejags...will be thinking of you.

Kayleigh · 01/09/2005 10:53

Hope it all goes well today Dejags X

Quick update, there's good news and possible bad news:

Good news is that the lumps are almost certainly nothing to worry about - I am having an ultrasound later today to be certain.

Bad news is, is that my abdominal aorta is enlarged. They are doing another cholesterol screen to check what's going on there. I don't quite know what to think - the scan will also look at the aorta and we can take it from there.

At least something is being done.

OP posts:
dejags · 01/09/2005 14:17

anybody know anything about this?

OP posts:
chicagomum · 01/09/2005 17:18

Just checking in to see how you are. Don't know anything about the enlarged aoarta though. Fingers crossed it all turns out ok, hopefully someone will be along soon who can give you some answers.

Flossam · 01/09/2005 19:24

DJ, good about the lump. I would be very surprised if it was anything to worry about RE the aorta. I don't want to go down the route of what it might be as it's so unlikely and you seem to like to worry! Although, looking again, you will probably have your mind at rest already?

Springchicken · 01/09/2005 20:22

Dejags, how did the ultrasound go?
Good news about the lumps

dejags · 02/09/2005 07:51

Thanks for your concern.

All is well - the scan showed up nothing bad.
