Its been bad for about 8 months but seems to be getting worse. Worse after eating, especially bread. If I don't eat bread I still get it but not as bad.

So I guess I probably ought to stop eating bread which is going to be hard. But what else can I do?

Any medication I can take?

Am pretty sure if you went to your GP you would leave with the diagnosis of IBS and a prescription for Mebeverine, which seems to be the standard treatment.

Both myself and DD were diagnosed last year after suffering the same symptoms plus frequent unpleasant visits to the loo.
We began eliminating food in a bid to weed out the cause, as it was making life intolerable even with the tablets.
Most dramatic improvements came when cutting lactose (most dairy products), yeast and beans/pulses.
I now use Lactofree milk and yoghurts, have wraps or crackers instead of bread and avoid beans like the plague.
DD has less problems with bread but finds red meat sets her off.
I really miss cream/trifle/creamy sauces but when I succumb to temptation, I truly regret it later...
It's just trial and error really.

I've had IBS - it does sound a lot like what I experienced. It is absolutely horrid and very painful - I do sympathise. A course of Colofac fixed mine......

Have been googling IBS, took a bit to wade through all the ads for various "cures" but yes think you;re right the symptoms sound very similar.

Will make an appt witH gp. tHANaks.
