has anyone had the pill to regulate periods on the coil?

i had a copper coil fitted in Jan and since then have been bleeding off and on pretty much all the time (is driving me nuts!)

The doc said he might put me on the pill just temporarily to regulate my periods...I don't understand how this works because surely as soon as you come off the pill it will just start again?

Any experience?

Um, yes I was given the pill for the same reason but kept forgetting to take it Blush - which was my exact reason for having the coil rather than pill in the first place!

I think (crap memory) mine settled down on its own.

Sorry, couldn't be less helpful could I? Blush

Did you ask about getting a Mirena coil instead (hormonal coil which unusually means very little or no bleeding) or was it not for you?

Yes I did (with Mirena), they regulated after 3 months of taking it - and then didn't need the pill after that.
By that time I'd developed more side effects (cysts and lumps) and decided that one year of misery was enough and had it removed.
