Anyone want to join me? Am planning an alcohol-free month. I've got into the habit of drinking wine almost every evening and I think I need to stop for a bit.

Hi Just13moreyearstogo, Yes I will join you. Had nothing to drink last night and intend to not drink for the rest of the month. (although I will be stepping of the wagon to go to a wedding on the 18th!) but apart from that I will give it a go. Have never had a month (apart from when PG) off the booze. I am also trying to lose weight so hopefully no booze will help that aswell.

keep posting!

Hi katedan - thanks for posting. I will also be stepping off the wagon on my wedding anniversary this month, but will add a couple of days on at the end to compensate. Good luck!

How are you getting on just13moreyearstogo? We had a dinner party last night and I was very proud of myself for staying off the booze even tough DH had some wine (He was also meant to be off the sauce this month!) I am really enjoying graphfruit juice and tonic water. What are you drinking instead of booze?

Just13moreyearstogo · 04/09/2010 22:01

Well done - that must have been hard to do at a dinner party. I'm drinking fruit juice/smoothie/peppermint tea. Am missing my wine in the evenings though, especially when DH has his!

OK, I am trying to give up my 1/2 glass of wine habbit. It doesn't agree with me and a nutritionist suggested it to help my sleep.
So far so good and I think my sleep is a bit better.

not drinking at home at all, so can't really give any support other than when going out realised that mojito without rum is delicious

maybe worth investigating that route :)

I suppose sweetenrd water with something minty and limony would ve very nice :)

I have always had a diet coke habit but trying not to replace booze with too much coke as I drink to much diet coke as it is!
Last night was my hardest night so far as there was half a bottle of pinot (My fave) in the fridge left over from the dinner party. Luckily I managed to not give in. Just13moreyearstogo - when is your wedding anniversary? mine is the 22nd.

Hi topsi and lostfeelings hope you are both doing well. Mojita without rum - worth a try.

Just13moreyearstogo · 06/09/2010 10:45

Anniversary is Sept 9th. Am REALLY not enjoying not having wine in the evenings. I depend on it too much to help me relax.

Tell me about it I have had a bad day with overtired/rude children and my DS had a friend round to play who is best discribed as "spirited"!

keep thinking about the wine in the fridge but feel if I can avoid the booze over the weekend Monday should be easy! Oh well kids back to school tomorrow.

Just13moreyearstogo · 07/09/2010 18:06

LOL at 'spirited'.

Thanks gingeroots - I did see that. Will be heading over there once September is through!!
