my ds and I sometimes get worse eczema when sleeping in mil's sheets. She's devoted to Calgon - could that be a trigger?

I wondered if the heat on holiday might have triggered my outbreak, it's very bad on the inside of my arms.

We use Calgon too (v hard water area so essential), never found it makes a difference to DS1's eczema. Does she use bio washing powder, or fabric conditioner? Both these can cause flare-ups in some people.

Thanks, no she uses non-bio and no fabric cond. It's a mystery!

Does she use Calgon because she has very hard water? That in itself can make eczema worse. Whenever we stay with the GPs who have a water softener, DS1's skin becomes wonderfully soft. Sadly we live in one of the hardest water areas in the UK (with no space for a softener).

Another person with eczema & Calgon user here, never noticed any impact. I now use Surcare as detergent (no perfume, colourant), no conditioner. Used to use Persil, Fairy non-bios but experienced aggravations with both.

i'll try changing our powder. The super gentle ones just look SO expensive that I buy the non bio and hope for the best.

But when I read about eczema online there are all sorts of triggers that are probably in even the Non bio ones.

Yes. If you have allergies and eczema Calgon should not be used in a washing machine. I can't use it because it caused me burning skin and sores. It does for a lot of people apparently.
