Really heavy period....what's "normal"? TMI ALERT

I am rapidly heading towards the menopause I fear as af has been getting gradually heavier over the past year or so and once or twice, it has skipped a month. Last month I had no af but came on yesterday. Today I am having so much bleeding that I'm becoming concerned. This morning, I'm wearing super-extra tampons plus a pad and they are not lasting more than 20 mins or so before soaking through to the pad and having to be replaced. I've never had a period like it! I feel sick and headachy (normal for me during af) but the amount of blood is scaring me a bit. At what point do I panic?

I would talk to your GP. I had a fonctionnal cyst on my ovaries and it was one of the symptoms.
It is better to be checked. It was easy to treat premenopause's pill for a few months. (I was 25 at the time).
Could be a symptoms for hormonal imbalance also, fibroids...
Just get it check even if it is better by now. No need to panic though unless it doesn't settle itself soon or get worse, if so may be A&E? talked to your GP for advice.
