Insomnia - what over the counter stuff can I take when on Citalopram?

Hi all. Can anyone give me some advice on what sleep remedies I can take on Citalopram. I'm sure I was told a while ago that I couldn't take Nytol with ADs. Is this right? I'd really like to know what I can take and what is good in your opinions.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Bloody insomnia is hell.

Could you ask the pharmacist what you can have, they should know. Or let your gp know next time you go, as it may be a linked side-effect. I got a few tablets of a sleeping tablet to help me, just to put me back in a cycle which really helped.

Am sure you have done the good sleep routine: not too hot, milky drink, no caffeine, no work right before bed etc. Hope better night tonight!

Am not sure you should take anything without asking GP/pharacist first! I guess Citalopram is a non sedating AD which means you wouldn't be at risk of over sedating yourself but I would still check first.

Thanks Kezia and Topsi. Fair point - I will go to my GP first and see what he says.

Not too bad a night last night so feeling vaguely human today!
