We all know that crash diets are unhealthy - but - what is the most weight you have lost during a 'crash diet' and over what time scale?

How long did you sustain it, how much did you lose and how much have you since put back on?

This is just out of interest, given the number of sites that pop up promising quick results - just wanted to know if anyone actually tried and managed to get to their goal and then sustain their new weight.

I've just started the Cambridge diet. I've done 5 days and lost 7lbs so far...

The Hyperemesis diet. lost 2 stone in 3 weeks. kept it off for 9 months, but felt like crap. then the breast feeding diet when I gained 4 stone but felt much better.

Slow but sure is the way to go. Fast weight loss means you have lost muscle which weighs more than fat.

It really is not a good idea for all kinds of reasons.

102lbs a week is best long term.

I had a stroke last September and couldn't swallow properly for a while Sad

I existed on bananas, stewed apples and porridge, which was upsetting BUT I lost 4 stone in 3 months....which was fab! I am nearly back to normal now and am determined to keep it off Grin.

Wouldn't recommend it as a diet though!

Purple--- 102lb a week?? Is there anything left of you???

LibertyGibbet · 21/08/2010 21:41

1-2lbs a week is the maximum you can lose in fat. Then you are losing lean tissue. Not good for you at all and that's why you put it back on again.
