What could this pain behind my eye be?

My right eye has been sore for a couple of days, with a headache right behind it iyswim.

Last night the soreness became a huge pain- it felt like my eye was being pushed from behind. Paracetomal didn't do anything. No visible sign of anything wrong with it. I've been to the chemist today and they've given me ibroprofen and the pains stopped almost instantly.

My friend though it was a tension headache (I am quite worried about a couple of things).

I've got an opticians appointment for next week for my annual or 18 months or whatever it is eye check, but wonder if I should try and get one sooner.

I was goint to suggest an eye test but I see you have that sorted.

It could be a lot of things...sinus infection? I had one in January that felt like someone was pushing a spike up behind my eye.

See your GP if you can since they should be able to rule out more serious stuff.

I agree with your friend, it does sound like a tension headache - and you are under stress at the mo (I've seen your thread about the alleged bullying at school). It probably isn't a problem with the eye itself, but I would go to the GP if it persists.

I would mention it to the optician when you see them, but it is unlikely to be an eye problem.

I'm not medically trained so would stress that you should see your GP if you feel concerned.

Thanks. It's eased off a bit this afternoon without any more ibroprofen, so think it must be stressed related.

Do have alot going on just now- with work, family and children!!(Just updated misswormwood)

Also I have had a slight cold, so wonder if it's a combination of this and the headache. If it comes back I'll go to Dr's tomorrow- hate to waste his time if it's just something daft.
