DD has got this funny rash .... any ideas?

I have done all the glass test etc ... am sure it is nothing too dodgy.
She is fine in herself ... no temp, eating well etc.
She has had a long 10 day stint of anti b's due to a sinus infection following a really nasty cold and bout of croup. Finished the course today.
She got a spot on her bottom yesterday lunchtime. As more spots appeared throughout the day I thought it may be chicken pox. But this morning there are more of them but they haven't blistered. They seem slightly itchy (she is only 18 months so she can't tell me). They are on her bottom, legs and on her arms but not on her body or face. They are pink and vary in size, mainly round or oval ranging from the size of an apple pip to maybe a centimetre in diameter.
Any ideas?
She is in bed now so if there are any more I will take her to the doctors in the morning but thought I would throw it to MN.

DS has a funny rash right now too. I suspect thrush and as your dd has just finished AB's maybe hers could be same?

delayed allergic reaction? Eczema? (ds1's eczema herpeticum looked quite like chickenpox- but they have characteristic pitted spots- came up really quickly as well). Thrush? as jabberwocky says. I'd try googling a few pictures of rashes on google images and compare.

DS2 has a funny rash as well- thought he's caught the sun but am now wondering whether its slapped cheek.

I thought it may be a reaction to the abs but wouldn't it have come earlier?
Does thrush give a rash on leg and arms though?

Ds's started on his leg, right at diaper edge and has now traveled farther down his leg and up a little ways on his side. He doesn't seem to be particularly bothered by it - it bothers me much more! We are trying an antifungal cream atm.

lots of viral infections have rashes - roseola, and german-measles like viruses are two. Most are nothing to worry about, but if it continues, take her to the docs.

Does she have any spots in her mouth? It may be hand, foot and mouth if so. That can appear on the bottom as well.

True, SP. Ds has had viral-type rashes 2 or 3 times. Those have seemed to be more on his back and a little on the chest. This seemed more suspicious because so localized. Sorry, ghosty, not meaning to highjack your thread in any way!

No temp SP ... she is as happy as larry ... ate loads today to and her appetite is the first thing to go when she is unwell.
Hmmm .... we didn't check her mouth but a friend's child recently had H, F and M ...

I reckon allergy- think they can take a while to show.

I reckon it is a reaction too Jimjams. Possibly the 10 days of amoxycillin was too much for you do you think? Or she ate something in the garden yesterday ... Can't think what else it could be.
Bit disappointed it isn't Chick Pox ... I want my children to get it over with ....

god would definitely be too much for me - my body is still in shock after the post natal iv abs. Might be worth getting a dr's opinion so you know whether to avoid them next time.

I remember that funny rash - as long as you're convinced it's not something serious - and it seems like you are, I think it's just a funny rash. Both dds had it, and so did the dd of a friend of mine.

Good point, Jimjams. At least mention to the doc about this so they can note it in her chart as a possible allergy to the meds. Reactions are worse the second time around if that is what it is.

Have you got a pharmacist nearby you can show it to?

Funnily enough Carla ... I have a good friend who is a pharmacist and she came round today to have a look ... she was flummoxed too. It was her that said it definitely couldn't be ch.p as they would have blistered by now. She mentioned roseola and something else but when I looked them up they all come with temps and illness.

I think she has HIVES ... allergic reaction to something ....

No, I don't think it is Hives. Just had a look at a couple of other sites and it sounds too major for what my DD has.
But still ... I know I am talking to myself now ... must be allergic reaction like you good people suggest.

Well, talked to my brother who is a dr. and emailed pictures. Ds has...Chicken Pox! Oh, well, I've gotten out the oatmeal bath.

ghosty...my dd had this, it was a skin infection due to antibiotics taking the goodness out of her body, the gp gave me some hydrocortisone cream and really good moisturising cream, they did say if it didnt clear up with these (which it did) then they would give more antibiotics.

Well, I just got back from the Doctor who took it all quite seriously. It was worse this morning, the rash had turned into great big weals all over her body. She looks like she is itchy too ... and more spots appeared around her ears while I was at the drs.
He is sure it is an allergic reaction to the penicillin and she is now noted NOT to have any kind of penicillin at all for the foreseeable future. He wants me to take digital photos of her rash and keep them on file for when she will need tests when she is older.

Isn't it funny how you go running to the doctor when you think your child is half dying and the dr shrugs and says "It's a virus" and then you go in half heartedly and a bit embarrassed to be wasting his time and he goes all serious on you?

Oh, I wondered if she had had penicillin. Well, at least now you know.
