I have damaged a muscle in my shoulder and have resulting further pain in my knee and arm. I wasn't allowed anti-inflammatories and paracetomol barely touch the pain. I feel about 3, want my mum and to go to bed.

Heated bean bag can help or a hot shower. Ibubrofen is the best, I find.

sorrento56 · 17/08/2010 19:02

I thought ibubrofen wasn't allowed if you have asthma? Confused

go to the gp and ask for stronger painkillers.

scurryfunge · 17/08/2010 19:44

Sorry don't know about asthma. Hope you feel better soon.

HumphreyCobbler · 17/08/2010 19:46

co-codamol?

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 17/08/2010 19:48

I have asthma and would take co-codamol under those circumstances.

bibbitybobbityhat · 17/08/2010 19:48

Where in the op or thread title do you say you have asthma?

Anything with codeine should help.

Do you have someone who can get to a pharmacy for you?

ShirleyKnot · 17/08/2010 19:48

Yes. Get some co-codamol.

sorrento56 · 17/08/2010 19:50

I missed the bit about asthma.

I don't find that co-codamol works much better than paracetomol but thanks anyway.

Ooowwww, I have been there and can feel your pain. I lay in the foetal positon and sobbed a lot. I can't take codeine or asprin based drugs. Not a lot of help, but sympathy. Have you had an x-ray. I had also cracked my shoulder blade.

sorrento56 · 17/08/2010 20:03

No x-ray as I just went to my osteopath. I feel like my whole body is falling to pieces and wearing out Sad.

If you are in terrible dreadful pain you need to call the dr again. I had a "trapped nerve" (Um, it wasn't it was a total mad muscle spasm as it turned out) and the first visit to the Dr (in a cab, weeping and gnashing my teeth all the way - in front of my poor children- and then being unable to stand up when I got into the surgery Blush) resulted in a bloody prescription for paracetamol and the exhortion to "take it easy". 5 hours later I was actually screaming with the pain and another call to the dr resulted in tramadol and diazepam. sweet relief.

ShirleyKnot · 17/08/2010 20:05

( am asthmatic too BTW, never had a reaction to any drugs - but that's just me, I'm NOT advocating you take ibuprofen at all obviously)

sorrento56 · 17/08/2010 20:08

ATM it is like a dull ache so is managable but I might go to bed soon.

I have deep heat and deep freeze but confused about which is best. We went on holiday last week and had a really crap bed so the work my osteo did the week before was undone. I have to go back next week. DH thinks I should see an acupuncturist too.

sorrento56 · 17/08/2010 20:16

I am off to bed. Has been a rubbish day Sad.

Just try one or the other. Doesn't really matter, just some people get on better with heat than cold and vice versa. You could also try having a hot bath.

I also second taking co-codamol. If you have none then taken paracetamol and keep taking it as often as allowed. You need to be consistent with taking painkiller to get proper relief from bad pain.

Can you get a faster osteo appt?

nicky1968 · 17/08/2010 20:20

How about trying Trigger Point Therapy? I tried this when my arm hurt like hell for no reason - even not doing anything. Pain killers didn't touch it, I even took a Tens machine into work but that was no good either. Doctor didn't have a clue, so in the end tried Trigger Point Therapy and it was the only thing that actually helped.

sorrento56 · 18/08/2010 18:41

I haven't been too bad today though driving is still uncomfortable and painful at times. I have to wait for my appointment but I am hoping it will ease off. Dh is back at work tmw so have to just get on with things.
