Sad

I have a ginormous abcess in my mouth and my face has swollen up massively. Went to dentist yesterday and he gave me penicillin, but it's obviously not working yet. From under my right eye round into my ear, under my chin and up to my nose is all swollen and tingly and sore. I look a right state. Painkillers aren't really touching it. Can't eat properly and can only drink through a straw.

Feeling very sorry for myself!

I would call the dentist..the dentist I work for sends people to ENT at hospital to be checked out if they are that swollen..might be worth just ringing them and asking if OK to keep waiting.

deemented · 12/08/2010 11:42

It's the 250g 4 x daily.

Have only been taking them since five ish last night, so will give it til tomorrow and if it's still as swollen then i'll ring dentists.

I'm really stuggling coping with the children, tbh (5, 2 and 7 months) and the manshape is working away for the weekend from tomorrow afternoon. Hoping things start to feel better soon.

I really can't take anything stronger as i'm breastfeeding the youngest. I'll see if my dad would mind having the eldest for a day or so - fingers crossed.

how are you today?

deemented · 13/08/2010 15:41

I'm feeling a bit better, thanks. Swelling has gone down a little, though lips and eyes are still quite bad, but not as bad as yesterday so think the AB's are working.

Thanks for asking Smile

Me too Grin

Now to start gathering my nerve to actually have treatment in September...

I'm sure the pain you have been through will have been loads worse than the treatment. Smile

deemented · 13/08/2010 16:20

Yes but by then i'll have forgotten about this pain....

Are you having root treatment? If I had a penny for all the patients who came out of the surgery to the desk after a root canal and said "oh, if i'd known it wasn't that bad I wouldn't have worried about it so much" I'd be rich!

AgentProvocateur · 13/08/2010 16:47

I'm just back from the dentist with the same thing! No tooth pain because it has already had root canal treatment, but a very swollen painful face. I've just taken the first antibiotic, and I hope they kick in soon because I was planning to go to the Edinburgh Festival tomorrow.

I don't know what treatment i'm to have. He couldn't really get a good look as it was too painful, though he did say there were several teeth at the back that will need treatment - i do look after my teeth, honest, i just haven't been to the dentist for years Blush

Enjoy the festival, AP, hope you feel better soon too...

I'm sure the treatment will be fine and then you will probably need nothing else but checkups from then on if you start going regularly. Grin (toothy grin)

AP, enjoy the festival, am in Edinburgh but not getting to anything this year due to no childcare, but it's a great place to be!
