DD is now 6 months old. Since her birth I have suffered from stiff knees and ankles and generally just a stiff, achy body. Also I have blocked sinuses - can't smell or taste much :(

DD is exclusively breastfed and still wakes up at least 3 times per nights so I have not had a decent nights sleep in what feels like forever! She has started solids now but that does not seem to make a difference to her waking up.

Also I have not really lost any baby weight despite trying really, really hard. Presently I have given up and have resorted to stuffing my face with cake in the hope that sugar will give me some sort of boost.

My period has not come back yet either and still feeling hot and sweaty at night due to breastfeeding (at six months I am still wearing breastpads and my milk still squirts absolutely everywhere)

DD woke about 5 times last night :( luckily I have a very supportive partner who took over for me to get some sleep after he came home from night shifts!

Any help or advice GREATLY appreciated cause I need to feel better. I need to feel different from how I feel now :(

I'd suggest seeing your doctor for a general check-up. It could be that your immune system is struggling in the face of chronic fatigue. In which case, bumping up your nutrition levels and getting more sleep could be key to your recovery. On the other hand it could be something more fundamental for which you need medical treatment. And only a doctor would be able to tell you that.

I second the compromised immune system. I would def. stop the cake (high sugar and dairy can cause sweats and sinusitis) you'd be better with stuffing fruit, take magnesium, kelp a multivit.

The stiffness is often caused by a high acid diet eg. tea coffee, vinegar and oranges. Try eating fruit on an empty stomach; good luck.

I was completely achy for months after I had my ds. I was really worried as I woke up every morning feeling like an old woman ( which I am), but then I happened to read a newspaper article on insomniacs and how they ache all over from lack of sleep.

Once I started getting more sleep and wasn't up bf every 3 hours I slowly got less and less achy - although I have to say I still suffer from stiff ankles as I have done some ligament damage by not being careful when I was pregnant and bf. ( I did get my dh to give a bottle of formula in the night after 7 months as I was going mental with the lack of sleep)

I also suffer from chronic siunusitis and would recommend saline nasal washes or sprays used regularly - it really helps soothe the mucous membranes and is far better than any of the decongestants and steroids I was prescribed.
As for losing the baby weight my ds is 2 on wednesday and I haven't managed it yet. I did lose a little but only after I stopped bf.

I'm sorry you are feeling so crap. I sympathise.

Thanks so much for the advice :)

Gonna start a little detox and ditch the cakes and sugar. I do take a multi vitamin and spirulina. I will start taking some kelp and magnessium!

Spirulina is a type of kelp so you should start feeling better once you get more sleep!
