bleeding on cerazette?

Ive been taking cerazette for 2 and a half months and have been bleeding most days, probably only get 10 days a month where im not, also bleeding during sex. been to docs and she checked my cervix and said all is ok and couldn't explain it so she has referred me to a gynecologist. Has anyone else had this whilst taking cerazette? its driving me mad and since i cant take the combined pill im kinda stuck with it!

Glad all went well for you...but the side effect for this pill is mad! Ive been on it for the last 5 months & am bleeding for most of the cycle...Dr's says it normal! Change of pill is on the cards i think.

I had constant break through bleeding with it and it ruined my labido and I was grumpy all the time. The GP gave me something to make sure on my honeymoon I wouldn't be bleeding but that murdered my labido even more. Total disaster, had an IUD fitted in the end and have never looked back.

I couldn't take the combined pill either. My IUD has no hormones in it. Just a copper coil but it works like magic and lasts 5 years Smile before needing replacing.

My friend had a mirena fitted but it gave her headaches for while when first fitted, she thinks it was due to the hormone as that type of device is an IUS and contains oestrogen. However it is more effective than a plain IUD at preventing pregnancy. HTH?

Ive always been thinking of having the coil fitted...might be my only option as cannot carry on with this constant bleeding. Have a very frustrated husband to add to my misery!! x

Rachelocymru, i really sympathise with u, its been a nightmare the past 5 months and my hubbie has not been impressed either, bless him! However things seemed to have settled down for me with the bleeding, but im getting a period every 2 wks, i guess its better than bleeding everyday! But the gynae did say i need to wait until ive been taking it atleast 6 months to c if my cycle returns to normal. Just a bit concerned about having a coil fitted as ive read some horror stories about that too! But i suppose u dont know until u try it, it would b nice to not have to pop a pill every morning! Its my only other option if this pill doesnt settle down!

One other problem is the doc said i need to b on my period when i have the coil fitted but how the hell do i know when thats gonna b if i carry on with this pill and my periods stop altogether like they did last time? I dont know if i can have it fitted any other time? I have 2 daughters so they said its probably best thing for me, just wondering if i shouldnt wAit any longer and just go for it and have one fitted now while im still bleeding reguarly?! Any advice? What a pain i am?!

Well I can't recommend enough having a coil if it's any consolation Dragon. No break through bleeding, no random periods, I wouldn't even know it was there.

I suggest you just have a chat with your GP about it and when ready have one fitted if you're sure. I love it and I'm glad I have no hormones in my system messing with my labido now or giving me mood swings Smile

dragonfly42 · 06/09/2010 20:18

yeah maybe i should go see my GP, I just feel like they are trying to convince me to have one fitted as its the cheaper option longterm! the gynae recommended the mirena which gives a low dose of hormones similar to the pill im taking now but he said it should be more effective at controlling bleeding as its in the womb. ok i will have a think about it a bit more, my sister in law had the copper coil and it made her periods very heavy, i dont know if thats just a general effect with that type of coil or just how it affected her

I think it can be a side effect. I'm ok. Depends on each person though.

If you do not feel comfortable having one then don't do it though Smile

2plus2 · 06/09/2010 21:24

I found the bleeding stopped when I was told to take two tablets a day. works for me.

dragonfly42 · 06/09/2010 21:37

teaandcakeplease, yeah i guess it probably varies from person to person, thanx for your advice.
2plus2, i have read other threads on here about cerazette and people being told to take 2 tablets a day,my GP or the gynae havent suggested that to me, wonder if i should ask about it next time i go for a check? but can u keep taking 2 a day permanently? surely when u go back to 1 a day the bleeding may start again? i dunno< this pill really confuses me cos i took it 3 years ago and it was completely different experience!

dragonfly42, cheers. It's a kinda relief to know that im not the only one suffering...being on this pill. Even when im not bleeding i still get period pains & im relly moody at times! Can you imagine wot my poor husband has to put up with! heee
Ive also heard mixed opinions about the coil. Dont think i'll be aving that. Im definately coming off this pill, it just confuses me so much plus my cycle! I was on the Depo injection before i had kids which worked great for me, but different story when i went back on it afterwards. Wish i was a man sumtimes! x

rachelocymru · 08/09/2010 16:09

teaandcakeplease, glad the coil worked for you, but like dragonfly42 said it varies from person to person. I want to have it done & dont, will ave a chat with my Dr bout it first & then see how i feel then. x

dragonfly42 · 10/09/2010 07:44

Rachel, im the same as u, i have mixed feelings about the coil and after reading peoples stories on here im really concerned about having one! Just asxi thought there was light at the end of the tunnel im now getting eratic bleeding again! My body cant seem to find a cycle again, and its heAvier now with cramps! Dunno whether to give up on this pill or what to do, its a bloody nightmare! Litterally!!!!! Grrrrrr
