... how much of a break do you need to leave before taking again?

It depends on the context. Some people take steroids for long periods of time. Can you say what this treatment relates to?

Most peole take steroids medium to long term and then reduce the dose gradually as it can be dangerous to stop suddenly.
Do you mean steroid tablets - or a steroid ointment?

SagacityNell · 18/07/2010 11:58

There are steroids in a lot of things. I have a steroid inhalor for instance.

What are they and how long have you been told to take them for?

I recently took them for three months and still use a steroid inhaler daily.

Anusol Plus HC suppositories and cream. I used them for 7 days, symptoms improved, stopped and the piles are worse again. I'm pregnant - 40+3 - and the pharmacist and GP both agreed it would be fine to use hydrocortisone this late in pregnancy, since when I've talked to another pharmacist who said another few days won't hurt. Phew.
