Anyone thinking of voting SDP?

They are economically left-wing but socially conservative, which more or less fits my values. I like most of their policy: nationalise natural monopolies, house-building, anti-mass-migration (from a leftist standpoint), pro-family, they understand what biological sex is. Don’t like their position on climate.

Anyone else?

I really, really, really like the sound of SDP. I read their manifesto last week and pretty much agree with most of it as it comes closest to my political values. Alas, they don't have a candidate where I live and I'm so gutted. ☹️

ActivePeony · 01/07/2024 07:38

I am. We have a candidate which is brilliant!

ImaginaryCat · 01/07/2024 07:51

Yup, me. We have a candidate and for their views on biological sex and women's rights they have my vote. I agree with about 60% of their policies and I'm a bit put off by the fact they all seem to be middle aged white straight men. But given they aren't likely to actually win any seats, this is as good a way to send a message as any.

No, would not under the current voting system. They are likely to lose their deposits, and a few more votes for the Lib Dems or Greens in a safe seat, or tactical voting to get a Tory out, will be more effective.

If they field one in my constituency, yes.

Understandable, but I’m keen to use my vote to show the political values I support as it will enable the SDP to grow and develop. They are aiming to become a meaningful political force in the next 5-10 years.
