This inside gambling business shows that he has done nothing to bring the party back to proper behaviour. He's no better than Johnson was.

This latest one (the data chief) has tipped me over the edge - thousands of pounds 'profit' and it seems clear now he's not the last we'll hear about.

I am bloody sick of it - I want a decent party with morals that I can vote for and it's clear these guys are not it. Is there anyone decent left among them because this seems to be a whole new bunch of people using their position to personally profit.

It's so frustrating and I am so angry at Sunak who's been about as effective as a paper umbrella (ha!).

What troubles me is that after the launch of Eat out to help out in 2020 Rishi Sunak's popularity was at a record high for politicians of +49.

It seems that voters have very short memories and whilst they thought he was wonderful whilst enjoying half priced meals, he is now deeply unpopular when voters have to pick up the bill for this and other COVID measures.

Indeed I'm sure that many of the posters now criticising him on this post viewed him favourably back then.

It's thoroughly depressing that all you have to do to become popular with the masses is to throw them a half priced Nando's.

I think in the first few months of the pandemic, the government got an understandable boost of good feeling because it was a time most people had never experienced before. There were elements that were very worrying and people needed to believe they had good people in charge. They'd probably not paid much attention to Sunak before then so it was even easier to project that hope on the 'blank slate' he appeared to be. I think that's where a chunk of the boost came from. Though I don't doubt Furlough helped. I recall EOTHO being pretty poorly thought of and derided at the time - but that could just be a narrow view from my own experience/world.

(for the record, I neither ate out to help out or got furlough, it was all stay at home and work for me).

Anyway, this morning's BBC story that they wasted £1.5bn on a single PPE contract - almost all off which has been dumped/burned - has driven me into an absolute grump this morning, thinking about how awfully incompetent (and corrupt!) this lot have been with Sunak in senior or leadershit spots throughout.

@tartancladpjs what a terrible and heartbeaking example of what I was saying - incompetent and corrupt. No wonder you cannot stand the sight of him.
