Forgot to put ballot paper in envelope A

I feel such an idiot I forgot to put my ballot paper in envelope A and I’ve posted it! So this evening I have posted envelope B separately. Will my vote still be counted or void ?
Anyone who has done a count can you help me please? What happens if you come across an envelope with the missing ballot?
If it is void after the count bro they contact people to let them know?

I think unfortunately that will be void now

BIWI · 20/06/2024 21:54

Of course it won't count. How could you not realise/follow the instructions?!

I hope your vote was for the Tories or Reform Grin

Charliewarley7 · 20/06/2024 21:56

Oh dear I was thinking that to be honest and yes I’m an idiot

It will still count. The additional envelope is for your voting privacy.

Didn’t read your post properly. No, it won’t count.

Ok thanks, I did notice they both had serial numbers on and thought maybe somehow they might be matched up that’s why I posted envelope b incase. Thank you

This is what worries me about the postal voting system. We have no choice, as we will be away. And - thankfully! - we have both posted our votes correctly. But how many more people will be like the OP?

(It's too much to hope that everyone who fails to complete their vote correctly isn't a Labour voter!)

Was the bit of paper with your signature and date of birth in with the ballot paper? If so they will probably count it, if not then I don't think they would be allowed to, unfortunately.

I only had one envelope. <panicking now>

I posted it yesterday.

I definitely posted all the bits and followed the instructions.

I signed it with my best and most careful signature after reading previous thread for polling station people.

Maybe you could get in touch with the presiding officer and go and visit to fix it? There's still a long time to go.

Charliewarley7 · 20/06/2024 22:15

Hopefully yours will count as they are in the same envelope

I just looked online and our presiding officer has an email address. Maybe that's the way to do it. Or you could contact your local city councillor, who would probably know who to ask.

Sorry - it must be really disappointing after all the excitement and waiting so long for this election.
