Researching Family History, just found out my great grandfather died from Spanish Flu in 1918. Does this mean I am protected against SWINE FLU ?

You're kidding right?

why on earth would it mean you are protected?

madwomanintheattic · 20/07/2009 16:05

sweinfeld, i am disappointed. i was so sure this was yours...

looks like you have some stiff competition!

Dophus · 20/07/2009 16:06

doh

pagwatch · 20/07/2009 16:07

oh this is top quality....

SweinFeld · 20/07/2009 16:07

very very good.
with a historical slant

pooka · 20/07/2009 16:08

Oh yes, most definitely.

Though I wonder, if he DIED, then that might demonstrate a natural possibly inherited predisposition/weakness for the flu?

ButterbeerAndLemon · 20/07/2009 16:20

Pooka is right; you're probably doomed.

TheCrackFox · 20/07/2009 16:21

No, on balance, I would suggest that you have a genetic weakness regarding the flu. Have you thought about staying in the house until they have found a cure?

Grandhighpoohba · 20/07/2009 17:26

Has your research also suggested that he married a close relative?

expatinscotland · 20/07/2009 17:34

NO.

Good grief.

Millions of peoples' ancestors had it and survived.

My grandmother - Dad's mum - had it.

I still caught swine flu.

McDreamy · 20/07/2009 17:37

Did he have any underlying medical problems?

BernardsCat · 20/07/2009 19:02

LOLOL

Parmageddon · 20/07/2009 19:05

My great-grandfather really did die of Spanish flu... We are more likely to have a weakness for this virus!!

McDreamy · 20/07/2009 19:47

Parmageddon - who told you that?

Ledodgy · 20/07/2009 19:48
Grin
woodenchair · 20/07/2009 19:56

Yes but only if your grandfather was conceived after he died

Parmageddon · 20/07/2009 20:46

No one - I am joking! although my g-grandfather was indeed a victim. Strangely my Mum only mentioned this today, apparently none of the rest of his immediately family inc my grandfather caught it at all.
