Help with a mystery

I have a relative who died in Charring Cross Hotel in the late 1890's. I contacted the hotel to ask about it but was told their records do not go back far enough. He died after surgery at Charring Cross Hospital.
I now can check times archive online. Have not been able to find anything.
SO what do you suggest next:
There was an inquest - do I try and find a coroners report?
Is there anyway you can get very old medical records?
Should I try and find out info for the company he worked for ( London based mining company - relative worked in Asia)
Any other suggestions???

company may have had to pay hospital bills or insurance so i'd start there.

What are you looking for? the cause of death?
You have the relative's name? ARe you looking for the exact date of their death so you can get a death certificate?

I have a photocopy of a death certificate but it lists the man as american BUT i know he was born in England. The will was probabted etc here in Aus as his wife and children were here. I have a copy of all that paperwork but wanted some more.
I wanted to know if there was any more information regarding him. I know the company sorted his burial and so was trying to find some burial information.
I am just trying to find out anything I can about this man to add to my family file.
Is is possible to get a copy of inquest information??

I've found a list of Charing Cross Hospital records but it doesn't seem at first glance if it will be of any use to you.
Inquests are/were often reported in local newspapers so that might be one way to search. I think you should be able to get hold of Coroner's reports - try London Metropolitan Archives to see if they have anything on this hospital.
