I find this brilliant. I won a copy in a competition. It is a computer program that keep track of all your into - lets you arrange it in all sorts of ways. Gives you different options for printing it out. Also contains other cd-roms with lists like Pallots Lists.

I just love it. When you purchase it - it also comes with a few months subscription to Ancestry.co.uk.

this is the one I have

One one side I have traced a branch back to the 1600's - albeit late 1600's. Another side - just late 1700's. I need to start getting certificates to support my info.

It is great for sorting info

yes, i love it. i haven't been able to trace very far back as i haven't got the time right now, but the family tree is very wide and growing rapidly so the program is good.

I have used Family Tree Maker, and found it quite good. However, the main drawback for me was that it is difficult to send the information to anyone else by e-mail. I have several relatives in Australia, and I really don't want to be sending them printouts.

For this reason, I have recently also started usinf Personal Ancestral File. You can download this free from the Familysearch website (run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Sainta). You also need to download the PAF companion, the basic version of which is also free. If you want the upgrade (which allows you to display more than 3 generations at a time) you have to pay, but it is only $6.75.

You can then save your tree as a PDF file, and e-mail it to anyone. I would really recommend it, if you want to send information without using paper.
