Well no-one that cares! I found my 12th Great Grandma is one of the Spencers, is this common to find direct links, I'm quite new to it all. I do have red hair lol.

How exciting! As long as your research is backed up with clear evidence 🙂

Will you delve deeper OP ? as did you know, Diana was distantly related to both
Charles and Sarah Ferguson,

Love that . I found out I'm related to the Bowles family before they hyphenated to Parker- Bowles so link to Queen Camilla through her 1st husband Colonel Parker Bowles.

Yes my Dad's family is quite well known as well (not royal) so was easy to verify in a way from that side. But I know what you mean it gets easy to carried away on there with minimal info.

Rings a bell, yes definitely, it's exciting isn't even just from a social history point of view, you learn so much poking around.

That's a fun find - one of my 12th Grandmothers is also Princess Diana's 12th Grandmother.
I absolutely love doing my genealogy and some of the things I've found are amazing (and some are awful and there are some ancestors who I actively dislike and wish I had no connection with). I'm currently working on my 18th line now.

Some of the stories I've found are hilarious - such as one of the families on my American branch who decided to dismantle and then rebuild their house overnight, on the other side of a fence to avoid taxes - but the silly buggers didn't rebuild the chimney properly and the whole house fell down - I can't help but giggle because it's the sort of thing my Dad's brothers would do

That makes things so much easier if you can find a link to a family that has a well researched and documented history. That way, a lot of the work's already been done for you.

I have a documented link back to the 12th great grandparents but they weren't anywhere as well known as yours.

Interestingly though, I do (or rather, my mother does) have DNA links going back on that line to my 10th great grandparents (so, her 9th) who died in the 1610s/1620s.

And to Winston Churchill, otherwise Spencer-Churchill, who also had red hair.

My 17th great-grandfather was Sir William Bowes I. I am therefore related to Queen Elizabeth II and King Charles III through Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (the Queen Mother).

We are keeping quiet about it though - our family are all republicans!
