Any way to restore water damaged photos?

Just the title. Some of the grandparents pictures have been damaged by water or some other liquid, they look faded and the paper is rippling. I'm planning to digitize them and see what could be done, but maybe there is a workflow I can follow?

I’ve seen before & afters where professionals have restored photos. I think iirc Max Spielmann can do photo restoration too, I’m not sure that you could do it without professional level photoshop software.

There is an article on restoring water-damaged photos https://photoglory.net/how-to-restore-water-damaged-photos.php that might help you a bit. However, it also states you need a particular software to do so, so if you aren't sure you'll be able to do everything as necessary, it's better to contact a professional.

There are professionals who can do this. It isn't cheap. I think we found someone via our local Next Door site. It was years ago though.
