Transferring DNA results from Ancestry to other DNA websites

Good evening, hopefully somebody could shed some light on this for me please.
I'm a relative novice to Ancestry.co.uk and have recently had my DNA test result showing all my matches who are registered on the website.
I've heard conflicting stories that it's possible to upload this ancestry result to OTHER geneology websites. I'm UK-based.
Does anybody experienced with Ancestry.co.uk know whether this is true? Or are my result/search options limited to fellow users of Ancestry rather than other sites?

Thanks for the reply. Could you possibly explain how I do that please?

Yes you can take your raw data from Ancestry and upload it to MyHeritage and Gedmatch (and possibly others).
On the Ancestry page click on DNA and the settings tab. It should bring up a page saying "DNA settings for Your Name". Scroll to the very bottom and there's an option to download your DNA as a zip file. Save it to your computer and then upload it to the other sites. Easy. The file itself is just a list of numbers.
I have different matches on MyHeritage, their site is more popular with North American test-takers so you may pick up different people or branches. GEDmatch is another useful tool but more often used by the serious genealogists rather than by the casual test-takers. One thing you should be aware of is that Gedmatch has worked in the past with law enforcement to solve murders/crimes - this ONLY happens in the US and the police need a court order to access data from DNA, but some people aren't comfortable with their information potentially being used in this way. As gedmatch is US based, it makes no odds where you personally are located.
Good luck finding new cousins!

I will check later when I'm home on pc as I've bookmarked other sites you can upload to free.

Family tree dna and my living dna are the other two sites I have bookmarked

I didn't know that you could upload it to other sites!

I liked MyTrueAnestry, it compares your results to ancient samples. There's a free option or you can pay to have longer access to the results.

@ProfYaffle I really liked that one too. I'd visited loads of the places that I had ancestry in and it made me wonder if that is what drew me to them!
