What are your favourite facts about families of famous people?

I really enjoy history and trivia, especially the names and family dynamics of famous people. Some interesting facts I have come across are:

1. E. M. Delafield, who wrote Diary of a Provincial Lady, had a daughter who was famous in her own right as a runner.
2. US President John Tyler had 15 children, 2 with the same name.
3. Babe Ruth had two sets of twins as siblings, but most did not survive.

What facts related to families do you find interesting?

And it’s not like Harry Hill won’t have paid any tax since then. I read his autobiography. He freely admits he wouldn’t have been a very good Dr so I’d rather see him with his hand up Stouffer’s arse than giving me a prescription.

Other comedians who took tax payers hard earned money to study medicine are/were Graeme Garden (The Goodies) and Graham Chapman (Monty Python). Although the former did play a sarcastic anaesthetist in Holby a few times, if that counts?

What did Harry Hill train in then? I saw an interview with him and he was saying he was on a flight and the dreaded 'is there a doctor here?' was announced by the pilot and after some silence he reluctantly put his hand up but luckily a practising doctor was there and sorted it!

Maybe I'm missing something, but why is this a really interesting fact? I think it just comes down to the fact that their lives were on a downward spiral; family breakdowns, precarious housing and finances, drink and so on, and that's how they found themselves vulnerable on the streets of Whitechapel at night. I also read about them recently and it was an eye-opener how women fared with the lack of a safety net.

(it's often struck me when doing family history research how the loss of the male breadwinner - normally from early death, but also potentially from separation - was catastrophic. Women like those targeted by Jack the Ripper had to just pair up with men for survival and protection. Estranged from their families and sometimes plagued by personal problems, going it alone wasn't really a great option)

Coincidentally after reading this thread I found out that actress Susan Fleetwood was a sister of Mick from Fleetwood Mac!

The author Dick King-Smith's son is the Reverend Giles King-Smith, a vicar in Woolacombe, Devon.

I found this out when I walked past a church noticeboard on holiday and saw the name and thought there can't be many people with that surname so I looked it up.

Stranger Things actor Charlie Heaton has a son with a musician who groomed him when he was a teenager and she was about 30.

So Harry Hill should have been forced to continue working as a Dr despite deciding it wasn't for him, or maybe you expect people who change career to pay some sort of penance? 😂🙄

I used to be a nurse. Maybe you also think that I shouldn't have packed that in after a few years because I wanted to do something different as well? My life would have turned out very differently and I undoubtedly wouldn't have met my husband and had my children, but hey ho. I made my bed and should have just sucked it up.

Henry VIII was distantly related to all of his wives through Edward I:

Anne Boleyn & Catherine Howard (who someone already mentioned we’re cousins) we’re second cousins of Jane Seymour (they shared a great grandmother).

The widowed Catherine Parr went on to marry Jane Seymour’s brother, so they would have been sister-in-laws in different circumstances.

Henry VIII doesn’t have any direct descendants. However it is thought that he may have fathered Mary Boleyn’s (Anne’s sister) daughter, Catherine Carey. If this is the case, Prince William and Harry can claim direct ancestry from BOTH of their parents.

Princess Diana is also a descendent of the Boleyn family and the Seymour family (the Seymour claim comes from Jane’s brother, Edward). So William will be a King from Boleyn/Howard/Seymour stock!

My Mums brother and my Dads sister have a daughter together. Her and my sister are extremely close and could probably pass as sisters looks wise!
