What might this cause of death have been ?

1872 death certificate, 11 year old child who was born and died in my house. I am baffled as to what this would be in modern terms .

Just out of interest how did you find out the death certificates for people who have lived in your house?

Could it be an anaphylactic reaction?

Almost certainly epiglottitis (rarely seen now as caused by hib which is in the vaccine programme) or diphtheria (ditto).
I can't think of anything else which would have that wording.
