Can anyone help me with some information please and where to get it?

I am trying to find out various bits of information and finding google confusing.

I need to know when someone died as only have a rough idea
The name of the house they lived in at the time and value at the time
Where to get a copy of a will from

I have name, street, wife's name, children's names and a rough idea of date of death.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please? If you could PM me that would be great. TIA.

If the house is in a road with similar houses, you could get an idea from here you don't have to sign up, and if you do it's free.

You can get a copy of a will once probate is granted from the probate registry - from memory, it costs £5, and they will do a will search over a number of years, so you only need to know the approximate date. The grant of probate now only gives a rough idea of the value of the estate, whereas it used to be down to £sd.

tb - that would be great, thank you. I am just overwhelmed by all the sites and don't know for sure which is the one I need. Who knew there would be so many X'x married to so many Y's when neither name is that common but must have been then.
