DS has an old one he bought at a carboot (yes I know, bad start).
He got a game and a memory card but the PS2 will only recognise the card in Slot 2 -- meanwhile it keeps asking for a memory card in Slot 1 in order to save the game. Slot 1 appears to be completely faulty.

Does the PS2 only save games to a memory card in slot 1, and the slot 2 is only for copying memory card details from one card to another?

TIA if anyone can help.

A lot of games only look for a card in slot 1 I'm afraid.

if you know anyone technically minded you could get them to swap the wires over so it thinks slot 2 is slot 1.

you could try cleaning slot 1 with a cotton wool bud dipped in vodka but the previous owner probably already tried that.

Oh no, Maybe you could take it to game, some one technical there could be able to help, how much did you buy it for?

Did they say there was anything wrong with it, but your situation your in now i imagine not.

GAME technical???? thats funny LOL.

People at GAME are morons (no insult to anyone working there, DF used to work there) they employ people with sales experience they don't care if you know anything about games, they tell you what junk to say to increase sales.

They are no different to PCworld and the way they operate, faced with someone who knows about computers the staff tend to just run off and pester some other sucker at the other end of the shop.

CEX would be a better bet but you would probably get charged more then what you paid for it, personally I'd go back to the carboot and if the person is there again do a sob story about how upset little 5 year old was when s/he's birthday present didn't work or something, you never know it might work.

cookielove · 10/07/2010 13:46

ok don't go to game then, however insulting them and saying don't take offence is rather rude imho.

Could you send it off to be fixed, i know you can do that with nintedo's equipment

Ryoko · 10/07/2010 13:54

Well technologically speaking morons, not general morons (altho some are).

Sony would fix it but again they would charge an arm and a leg for the service they charge you £130 to repaire a PS3 out of warrenty.

Is GAME a chainstore shop?
Oh well, DS only paid about £25 for it so far (including the memory card), so I think he's better off selling it as is and moving on!
Thanks, anyway.

Yes GAME are the biggest games retailer in the UK, a couple of years ago they bought Gamestation too.

a couple of facts for you, the Chart they have instore is not a sales chart, it is just an advertising board, companies pay to have particular games displayed on it because they know people will look at it and think the game at number 1 must be good so by it, it's actually called a sales guide not a chart.

20% of the floor space of each store is owned by the games publisher, EA.

If you want advice about games your better off asking the staff in the games section of HMV you are more likely to get someone honest opinion.
