After swearing never to touch one of them, I am now considering getting one for my 40th.

Any recommendations or words of caution?

Prolesworth - can you give me the name of the one you have - I really need an e-reader that I can use for PDFs.

I love UBS tracking. Although I did when I saw that my Kindle had travelled from US to Switzerland, then to Germany before coming back to Switzerland.

Have you got it yet, Manky?

mankyscotslass · 07/07/2010 18:29

No not yet, probably tomorrow morning!

I will be in such a rush to get the kids put to bed tomorrow so i can enjoy trying it out!

I have both, I love the screen on the Kindle best for reading.

prolesworth, I have the Sony PRS 505 and it is far superior to the touchscreen PRS600 one I bought DH.

He is inheriting my 505, but I need to transfer my books onto the kindle first, not sure how!

Anyone want to buy a barely used Sony PRS600 touch screen, less than a year old!

SandyisinCaldwell · 08/07/2010 12:48

Manky I'm

Actually it is not a PRS-600 but a PRS-700, sold on the international market, I got it in the US Naval Exchange in Bahrain as a surprise present.

The internal backlight is not as good for reading as the separate light cover for the 505 - that may be just my humble opinion. DH prefers my 505 and says he doesn't like the touch screen and it is unnecessary, - just his opinion!

Hmm, I suspect Manky won't be back here any time soon. She is too busy playing with her new toy.

I downloaded a travel guide for Provence and am going through it, making notes for places we want to visit. The really handy thing is, that I can read the Kindle app on my iPhone so I don't have to lug a big book about with me. And I can look up the passages that I highlighted.

Hi everyone!

Been busy reading.

I love it!

The DX is big but lightweight and is easier to handle than a hardback of comparable size.

I would probably have been ok with the smaller Kindle, but the size of the DX is not a problem.

The text is clear and easy to read, and page turning quick.

I've turned off the WIFI for the moment, as it does go through battery life, but that is easy to do too. Normal use battery life is good.

Over all very very impressed!
