my dd has had her ipod touch since xmas but recently it won't hold a charge for any longer than an hour.

argos have said they won't do anything because we sont have the receipt even tho it is only 6 months old

is there any way i can get it fixed or make argos do something?

A receipt is not the only proof of purchase, a bank statement or credit card statement can also serve as one.

So a first step might be to go back to the shop and ask for them to sign a statement saying something along the lines of "A receipt is the only form of proof of purchase as defined by the sales of goods act" or to repair/replace the iPod.

However you're just outside the 6 month window after which retailers often will be awkward.

So it might also be worth trying to pop along to an Apple Store, you're within the one year guarantee period.

Don't know where the nearest apple store is and it was paid for by cash so no statement transaction

Apple must fix it proof of purchase or not, if it is a manufacturing fault or the product is inherently faulty, they can tell the manufacturing date from the serial number.

Probably nothing wrong with the thing anyway, it's probably the battery, they loose the ability to hold a charge over time and mistreating them makes that happen faster (charging them before they are fully depleted, storing them in a hot environment/sun light and having them in damp air).

Apple products can not be accessed by you to change the battery, you have to send it to them and those scam bags will charge you around £30 to change it.

Apple stores can usually tell when something was sold by looking at the serial number, though obviously that's not much help if you can't get to one. Might be worth pointing that out when you take it back to Argos, though.

Forget Argos they will not do anything without POP, email Apple's service centre.
