How to adjust the volume on my pc?

I can't hear the sound on videos etc.

On YouTube (for instance) I click on the sound thingy and slide it up to the maximum but still can't hear. The sound is there but very very low.

On my monitor I press the button at the bottom which has an upwards pointing triangle and a little box pops up which says Volume 100.

We don't have separate speakers.

The pc and monitor are fairly new - about 2/3 years.

Any ideas?

I'm crap at these things, but on Dh's lap top (HP) there is a metal strip above the top right corner keys. You slide your finger left to right to increase the volume. Thought it might be worth a try.

are you using windows?

try 'right click' on the volume icon and open the volume mixer and check that they are all up high.

Have you ever had sound?

How many cables do you have connecting your PC to the monitor?
