What's wrong with my wireless router?

The cable modem is working, I can access the internet when I plug it straight in to the computer, so the ethernet cable is ok. The computer is picking up the wireless network, so the router is transmitting ok, but when I plug the ethernet cable into the router, I can still connect to the wireless network, but can't connect to the internet. What's going on?

does your laptop have a button to turn off wireless internet?

Make sure you aren't trying to access through both or something - I think mine went abit bonkers when I had both going - I had to unplug ethernet. Go to you internet settings and see what way it is trying to access - I usually go to set up a new connection, and then choose the one I want.

It does have a button, but I haven't pressed it. There is an 'internet' light on the router that isn't lighting up.
