Starting an internet forum,

Hi there, I'd like to start a simple internet forum for a Church group, and am looking for advice/links etc from anyone who knows how to do it! Please explain it to me like I am a five year old, as my technical wizardry is not what I am known for!

Perhaps try using a google group? Very easy to set up, you can start discussion threads, upload documents, pictures etc and if you want it to be it can be totally private.

No I don't think so, anyone can request to join and then you can approve them or you can invite individuals.
