And now I don't get that handy page when you open a new tab, that displays large thumbnails (or possibly another term?) of all my most frequently visited website. Instead, I get a grey page that asks 'what do you want to do next?' but that doesn't actually give me the option of viewing all my most frequently used sites. It lets me open previously closed tabs, or my last browsing session (not really what I wanted), or I can blog or map with Internet Explorer. Hmph. So I'm now having to seek out my favourite sites from my large and extensive Favourites menu or just type them into Google once I've brought that up.

Does anyone know how I can get back my old and missed feature? (And yes, I know you're going to tell me to use Firefox instead!)

(NB. it should be obvious from this post that I am not a computer geek. Please use words of one syllable! )

Thanks for any help.

No help here but joining in cos it did the exact same thing to me the other week and it is driving me up the wall - hopefully someone versed in the way of techno stuff will come along and put us out of our misery soon

There was another thread on this last week - the page wasn't an Internet explorer thing, it was a google add on that came with google toolbar & apparently google have suddenly withdrawn it without explanation - possibly to try to encourage people to switch to the google chrome browser.

And yes you can still get it on Firefox....

Add-on called "Speed Dial" on FF, standard facility with Opera.

You can still get this google feature on firefox? That might convince me to convert! I don't know why I'm so resistant, I'm just set in my ways, I suppose...

Ok, I'll give that a try - thanks!

On FF, use the "Tools" menu, then "Add-ons" and look for something like 'browse all add-ons' on the 'Get add-ons' tab.

(Sorry if my comment seems a bit vague but I have different versions of FF on different PCs for website testing, and feel sure the add-ons dialogue box changed each time!)

I have that now too and I also have a google thing coming up when I hoover over a word telling me the word and no results WTF
