videos on disks and editing

How do i get films off disks? is it just a case of copying and pasting to the desktop?

also, if a video is long, and i want to post a small section of it on you tube, how do i edit it to do that?

im not sure if this will help you but i noticed there is an upload button on this page here

I think it may depend on the format of the video file.

If using a Windows based machine, have a look for Windows Movie Maker. See if that will IMPORT the video file. If it does, then the video could be edited.

If running Vista or Windows 7 - there is Windows Live Movie Maker
