The first thing to know is that faking the address that an email is from is incredibly easy. There's absolutely no guarantee that an email is from who it claims to be.

So the email might now have anything to do with your email account at all.

However you should still check if something dodgy could be going on.

If you've got a Windows based PC then you need to make sure that your anti-virus software is up to date and run a full scan with it. You should also download something like this:
www.lavasoft.com/products/ad_aware_free.php

That will make sure that there's nothing "bad" on your machine that virus scans can and will miss.

If you're on a Mac then you don't need to worry about such things.

Finally you should go and change the password to the email account in case it is being hacked.

Even if it's in my sent box? I have changed the password (it was so obvious - silly DH!), I will try and sort the spyware thing. Can I disable sending on my account though? He rarely uses it so if we could do that it would be good Thanks

If it's in your sent box then it probably was somehow sent from the account.

Once you checked and cleaned out any spyware that you might have then you need to change the password once again. Changing it when you've got spyware isn't going to work as the spyware will just cough up the new password.

Not sure if you can block it from sending entirely...
