AAAgh. I am trying to download some of our video onto the pc. I have installed Sony's Picture Package onto our pc. All went well but when I try and run it our pc doesn't detect our sony handycam. I have just bought a new mini usb cable. Nothing. I am so fed up. Does anyone have any advice for me please?

Obvious question, did the handycam come with a driver cd, the picture package probably doesn't install the driver. what OS are you running?

That is a good question. I cannot find a driver cd. Should it have done? We got it a couple of years ago. That's how useless I am. Is XP our OS? Pretend you're talking to your granny and you'll see where I'm coming from. Thank you for helping.

Just checked the disc. It says USB Driver, Picture Package, ImagemixerVCD2 and First step guide. Would it automatically install all of the above? How would I check? Thank you

Not necessarily, and yes XP is your OS. When you installed the picture software did it do it automatically or did it come up with an installation screen. Usually it gives you options to select what you want to install.

If you go into control panel in xp, (look in start menu), then click on add/remove programs, a list of installed programs are listed. You might see the driver is installed there, if not. put the disk in again, and check whether there was something you needed to do. If you still have the manual it should tell you in there. Hope this helps

Thank you. Checked and driver installed. Decided to google and someone else had similar problem. In settings on the menu, which I didn't know existed, the usb streaming was set to off. Changed it to on and PC just found new hardware so hopefully all sorted. Thank you very much for helping me!
