Why won't my wireless connection connect?! Pls help

I have had this problem on and off for ages. I am with BT and have a wireless hub. BUT if it is disconnected from the power and then turned on again I can no longer get a wireless connection.

I have rang them countless times and they do the thing where they take over my laptop from their end and they fiddle with it. It then works, until the next time and I'm back to square one.

They said my driver needed updating so I did that last week. All was working until today when we had a powercut and now not working again.

I am so fed up with it. Does anybody know what the problem is or how I can fix it without yet another hour on the phone?

Thank you

Start
Control Panel
Network Connections
Hover over your wireless internet in Network connections, right click, and "enable"

Then go to the bottom taskbar and double click the wireless button to show available wireless networks

Click on yours and it should connect.

Oh, needless to say you have to do the above on the laptop or whatever that is the one being connected wirelessly.

I wouldn't believe a word of what they have told you. Whenever we've had problems we have had different lies excuses each time. A few weeks ago our internet kept cutting off mid-use and then being off for hours/entire day/evening. My DH had to make several phone calls (and the usual different excuse at each one) before an engineer went to the exchange nearby and sorted out something there.

Sorry, really been no help there have I?! Perhaps you need a new hub? I'd ask them to send you a new one to see if that's the problem.

It's already enabled and whenever I press connect it just says "waiting for network" then after a while just gives up

Have tried disabling then enabling again but get the same thing everytime.

Thank you though.

Thank you Butterball.

I did ask and they said it must be my laptop as the hub appears to be working

Slag them off on Twitter. Seriously, I know someone who did this. BT then started following them and, hey, 24 hours later problem solved. Make sure you put BT in your tweet

I've had same problem with BT Home Hub ,they kept saying "strange ,looks as tho it's working ,must be your lap top "
Ended up paying to have lap top checked and bought a new hub ...
But maybe I didn't need to ...
BT told me £45 for new hub ,old one about 3 years old .
