My Googlemail has been suspended! Er, WHY?

As you might imagine this has huge implications and has ballsed up my social life, and kind of put the mockers on a large chunk of the old work life too. HOW can this have happened? I've not done anything naughty.

I was logged into Googlemail at lunch and then at 2pm ish it was logged out - tried to log back in and I got a notice saying the account was suspended.

Help me please before I go mad.

Mine had aswell, not to sure why but I entered my mobile phone and they emailed a code which reactivated it, need mine as it is one I take bookings for my business on.

Ohh really. I have been sent one activation code which didn't work. Mobile is on charge at the moment but am hoping to try again in 5 mins. Hmm, I have a little hope now that that may work.

Did you get any kind of explanation 5?

No, but I am guessing that maybe they had a security problem of some sort possibly?

oh it didn't work. tried a third time and it said there's a problem - try again in a few hours

Bit mystified still though...

Maybe someone else was trying to hack in.

Best to have a password with a combination of upper and lower case letters, some numbers, and perhaps punctuation like - . and ! if you can.

Some combination which is far from guessable, but still easy for you to remember.

I regularly use some combination like " - !" (but with no spaces, of course).

Mine's locked out too - I assumed I'd got too much spam or a folder too big. It sounds like I need to do the mobile code thing (and find my mobile)

Code didn't work for me - I'll try again in a few hours.

It's a little worrying. I expect this sort of thing with hotmail but my googlemail is pretty private and really only a 'between friends' account. Plus, the password is letters and numbers and very random indeed.
