My other thread is being ignored....
If I have synced my phone with iTunes and have lost stored data in an app, is there any way to retrieve it? Will it be on the version on my computer?
And why on earth do I need to sync anyway?

Yes I have managed to buy a number of apps and some music completely by accident!
I must go back and read the iphone threads - someone (rustysomething?) recommended a help app that sounded good.
The other thing i have no idea about is how much free usage I have and what is charged for and what is not. I'm slightly paranoid that I'm goign to end up with an enormous bill!

you usual sync with itunes to back up phone or apps u may have brought via the phone and if brought apps via itunes it will transfer to your iphone.

if you have updated app and u have lost your data and you want to retrieve it would depend what app it was, if u backed up ure phone u may be able to retreive it.

best thing to do is email the app programmers

I recommended iPhone - the missing manual, but I've checked & it doesn't seem to mention your particular problem.
One thing to check is that you haven't accidentally clicked the 'restore' option, which would restore your iPhone to the last backup you made, which would normally be at the previous sync.

Otherwise, i'd suggest you try googling 'iPhone sync lost data + the name of the app to see if wnyone else has had this problem, and (hopefully) how they dealt with it.

If it's "jailbroken" you can't restore or sync it with iTunes can you?
Just wondering...cos I'm considering jailbreaking mine!

I think you can restore the factory settings to a jailbroken phone.
