I've lost my wireless connectivity!

somehow since checking email this morning and getting in from work this evening, my laptop has lost its wireless capability - I'm getting a message saying that the setting on my laptop don't match the ones for the connection.

what do I need to do to remain wireless???

Have you tried switching the router off and on? That works in my house when laptops aren't picking up a signal.

Have you tried the old classic - pull the plug on the wireless box, count to 30 and put it back in again?

It usually works for me!

Have you restarted the laptop and restarted the router?

I have restarted the computer, yes. What I haven't done is switching the wireless box on and off. I shall try that. Though it's slightly confusing that it works with a wire without having been switched off!

I have two PCs connected to the router by wire and they work fine when the laptops can't get a wireless signal. Don't know why that is, but hey ho.

I've tried the rebooting the modem and that hasn't worked. I'm going back to the wired method until I can work out what's going on.

Is it possible the arial on the router has come slightly unscrewed?
Or, is there any new equipment in the vicinity that could be broadcasting on a similar frequency and causing a conflict? There is a way to try different channels, but you would need to know how to log on to the router's settings on your pc.
