Is there much difference between the 430 and 520M ones??

Bumping for any IT savvy types (or anyone with an IT savvy dp they can ask?)

not a lot

Biggest difference seems to be the new AES instructions and Trusted Execution Technology which I don't think any software uses yet.

I have an i3 which is good enough for me, real-world performance difference from Core 2 Duo to i3 is huge IME (double the number of threads, DDR3), from i3 to i5 not much.

Thanks MrAnchovy - not looking like it's worth the £200 extra for the 520 one then...

Am quite excited about the upgrade from my three year old laptop to the i5 - should be a big difference then.

So should I just go for the i5 420 then?

I don't do anything massively challenging on the PC - lots of work but not any hugely complicated macro spreadsheets and no gaming.
Watch a few videos etc. too.

430M will be fine - GBP200 is a big difference, is there any other difference?

The only other difference is it's 320GB not 500 (or is that MB not GB??)

This doesn't bother me too much as I can get a cheapo separate hard disk to make up the difference for £60 or £70.

Sound ok?
