Mobile contracts. Could we get a better deal signing up for 2 new contracts?

My mobile contract is coming to an end. Normally what I do is upgrade and dh has my old phone(he's on PAYG) but the phone I have atm doesn't ring anymore and keeps turning itself off randomly so this time dh won't be able to have my old phone. His phone is in need of upgrading. So I wondered if anyone knows if we'd get a better deal by taking out 2 contracts?

TIA

Hi, you might get a better deal. It may be worth contacting your current provider and telling them that you're thinking of leaving and why. If you've already investigated a better deal, you can give them them the details and hopefully they will match it or better it. Hope that helps.

Thanks for your reply I should do that! I can't upgrade just yet(another 3 weeks or so) so I will contact my current provider first. They're also DH's although he is PAYG so they might be keen to keep us

Much depends on what you/ he want from your phones.

What do you/ he use at the moment (to get some idea of what price range they are) ?

It's quite possible to get phones locked to the same network quite cheaply at Argos or Carphone Warehouse (though they often expect you to pay for a new PAYG top-up). Asda Living has a range of locked and unlocked phones from 20 to 100 quid.
