Editing an MP3 file

I want to email an MP3 file, but it's too big (3MB). How can I trim it down? I don't need to send the whole lot, just one verse and one chorus would do.

I think Audacity may be useful. It will import an MP3. To export as MP3 it will need the LAME encoder - details here

Another way is to use your computers Audio MIX to record the section you want.
For example, you play the file using your usual MP3 playback software and use StepVoiceRecorder to record.

PrettyCandles - 3 MB too big for what? (your e-mail software, or recipient mailbox ?)

I sent a couple of large (50 MB) files to my sister, using www.yousendit.com (I uploaded the files, they sit on a server and she received an e-mail with a link which allowed her to download).

It was a free account, so had a limit of 100 MB and then the file was available for download for a maximum of 7 days {or some number of downloads, whichever was reached first}

I think 3 MB should cause no problems

That was a few weeks back, and I've seen no junk mail so feel fairly confident it can be used by anyone.
