Can anyone recommend an MP3 player with very big controls?

I don't think you will have much luck... MP3 players are getting smaller and smaller.

However, there are different ways of accessing them... for example, the
iRiver Clix 2 (links to video review) and
iRiver L player (links to video showing useage). These have a different navigation to most other players.

Hard to find online. They may be discontinued. Though some other iRiver players have the D-Click system.
